Celestia documentation MCP server
The official Celestia documentation MCP server searches and reads this docs site. It is public, read-only, and free. It does not require an account, API key, OAuth login, or agent registration.
Connect your client
Add a remote MCP server in a client that supports Streamable HTTP:
https://docs.celestia.org/mcpThe same service is available at /api/mcp. It accepts JSON-RPC POST requests;
it does not offer a standalone SSE stream. Opening /mcp in a browser sends a
GET and returns HTTP 405, which does not mean the server is unavailable.
Available tools:
| Tool | Input | Result |
|---|---|---|
list_pages | No arguments | Documentation page paths |
search_docs | query: search text | Matching paths and snippets |
read_page | pagePath: a documentation path | Markdown page content |
After connecting, ask the client to search for Celestia API authentication
and read the matching page. For a direct connectivity check:
curl https://docs.celestia.org/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
--data '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"initialize","params":{"protocolVersion":"2025-03-26","capabilities":{},"clientInfo":{"name":"docs-check","version":"1.0"}}}'The response identifies celestia-docs and advertises the tools capability.
MCP clients complete initialization before listing or calling tools.
Discovery and browser access
The MCP server card describes the transport endpoint and
supported protocol versions. The AI catalog
links to that card. For HTTP-only access, start with llms.txt and
follow the .md links.
Browsers with WebMCP support also expose search_docs and read_current_page
on documentation pages. These read the site's public search index and Markdown;
they do not access wallets or submit transactions. Browsers without WebMCP
continue to use the normal documentation interface.
Documentation tools and network tools
This server returns documentation, not live account balances, chain data, or transaction results. The community MCP services are operated separately and have their own capabilities and terms.
For application integration, use the blob getting-started guide and Node API reference. For a failed MCP connection, check the endpoint, transport, and the client's negotiated protocol version against the server card. HTTP and JSON-RPC errors are described in the developer portal.
